Crawfordsville & Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce
Executive Director Position
Summary of Position
The Executive Director is the leader of a two-person office and responsible for operation and management of all Chamber activities, including events, member recruitment, retention, budgeting, and more. This position reports directly to the Chamber executive committee and the board of directors.
Overview of Position
Crawfordsville was awarded a Stellar designation by the state of Indiana this year and the Chamber is a big component in the ongoing process. So far, this has meant a relocation of the Chamber to a facility that is shared by several organizations, including economic development, Main Street, Leadership Academy, an entrepreneur program from Wabash College and more. There are plans for expansion and even an incubator program. The new director will be heavily involved in ensuring the Chamber is front and center for a community that is clearly on the move.
As part of this new arrangement, the Chamber and the economic development group share an administrative assistant. The Executive Director, working in conjunction with Indiana West Advantage (the economic development group), is responsible for overseeing and directing staff on a daily basis in a positive partnership environment.
In addition, the Executive Director is responsible for:
Maintaining and growing Chamber membership;
Developing sources of non-dues revenue;
Create and successfully manage annual revenue / cost projections and all budgetary work;
Planning, promotion and marketing for all Chamber events;
Production of monthly newsletter, flyers, press releases, etc.;
Establishing and maintaining good working relationships with elected and appointed officials at all levels of government as well as various community leaders;
Strategically managing and leading the organization through challenging but exciting times and opportunities.
The Executive Director must be proficient in core accounting principles as well as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), QuickBooks, as well as social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and able to make basic updates to the Chamber website.
