The Chamber Welcomes You

To Our Town

Blessed with a rich and varied history, Crawfordsville and Montgomery County, located on the banks of Sugar Creek, offer visitors and residents alike a true feel of midwestern life.

Crawfordsville, the county seat has consistently appeared in rankings of the 100 Best Small Towns in America. Known as “the Athens of Indiana” since the early 1900’s for its culture, progressiveness, and abundance of nationally known writers, Crawfordsville today still embodies many of these same qualities. Two of our most treasured cultural amenities are the Lew Wallace Study, where the famed Civil War General wrote the novel Ben-Hur; and Wabash College, an all-male private liberal arts college founded in 1832.

In addition to our cultural heritage, Montgomery County is well positioned geographically, between the metropolitan areas of Lafayette and Indianapolis, to continue enjoying economic prosperity.

Downtown

Our local economy is quite diverse, ranging from agriculture to large-scale industrial manufacturers. The retail scene offers something for everyone with nationally recognized merchants, as well as one-of-a-kind niche retailers. Crawfordsville’s still vibrant downtown business district, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places,is currently in the midst of a revitalization supported by Crawfordsville Main Street, which promises to make our downtown truly unique with many more specialty businesses.

What We've Been Up To

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WEEK- May 4~8

This week we will be celebrating our Chamber Members. We will be posting their words on why Montgomery County is such a great place to live and work!
"Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health – Crawfordsville has been a part of the Crawfordsville community since 1999, but our roots run deep to caring for our community. We’re excited about some of the new technologies we now offer, new services such as the Advanced Wound Healing Center, new location for the Franciscan Physician Network Weekend Clinic and more. This summer, we’ll be installing new hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers and launching a telestroke program. Stop by and see us at the numerous events we’ll be at with free health screenings. We love Montgomery County and Crawfordsville!"
Matt Oates- Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health

"I was born and raised in Montgomery County, and when Cindy and I married we decided that Crawfordsville was the place to raise our children.  This community is rich in intellectual achievement and hardworking entrepreneurs.  No better symbol of this cultural attainment can be found than our very our General Lew Wallace, author of Ben-Hur, statesman, and military leader.  While each state is allowed two statues of honored citizens in our nation’s US Capital building, Indiana is represented by a statue of Wallace.  Very few communities of our size have this distinction.  Crawfordsville and Montgomery County are wonderful locations to establish and grow a business.  I predict that we will soon see the emergence of high technology industries targeting this community due to our opportunity for growth."
Tim McCormick- City Securities

"We love offering real value and service to a community which has provided so much for our family.  Our work enables us to connect with good people from our past and bright new people shaping the future in a meaningful and important way."
Derrick Clore- Clore Insurance Group

"North Montgomery Schools appreciates the business partnerships within Montgomery County. We are committed to working with Chamber members to better understand the needs of the local workforce and help prepare our students in meeting those needs. It is great to be part of such a collaborative group."
